THE SALESIAN COOPERATORS OF DBPC UNIT
St. Don Bosco conceived the association of Salesian Cooperators as being open to laity and to the secular clergy. Salesian Cooperators live out their commitment and the Salesian spirit in their ordinary circumstances of life and work. With lay sensitivity and characteristics they diffuse values in their own setting.
It was under the earnest initiative of Rev. Fr. Siby Joseph Vadakel, sdb that the DBPC unit of Salesian Cooperators was formed on 27th of February, 2009. We began with 20 aspirants. After a period of formation 10 members took their pledge as Cooperators. At present we have 9 pledged members and 8 aspirants.
We hold meetings once a month usually on the 2nd Tuesdays under our Spiritual Delegate who assists our progress in spirituality and fidelity to our commitment as Cooperators. We take part in most of the events organised for the Salesian Cooperators of this province.
The sole objective of Don Bosco was to work for the youth, poor and downtrodden. Working as teachers is the best way to be in touch with the youngsters to mould them in the right direction. We are actively involved in the church and society trying to bring about a notable difference in the lives we touch. Many of us teach value education in schools and catechism in schools and respective parishes. We also organize various out reaching activities as well, such visiting Old Age Homes and Orphanages.
We hope to continue to remain committed to the objectives of Don Bosco and be strengthened by the Holy Spirit and Mary, Help of Christians, Mother of the Good Shepherd to be practically involved in the salvation of the young.
